HAHN+KOLB ScreenshotTo accelerate the information flow of the distribution enterprise HAHN+KOLB from Stuttgart CONTENS realized its new intranet. In the future the coworkers will profit from the extensive and well structured offer of information. From now on important company resources can be found fast and simple over a newly integrated document administration.

HAHN+KOLB is a marketing company, rich in tradition, for tools and machines and is recognized across the industry for its high reputation in service, delivery and product quality. To improve the in-company communication and to accelerate the information flow, the management decided the introduction of a modern intranet. Searching for a customized solution the decision was made in favor of the content management platform CONTENS after an extensive evaluation.

In the first project phase the foundation stone of the new internal company platform was laid. Thereby the priority objective was: The new intranet should be as uncomplicated and simple to use as possible.

As from now on a centrally installed news application contributes to optimized in-company information. Current news can be placed, in freely definable categories, directly on the intranet homepage, so that all coworkers find the most important information immediately with call of the intranet. With the help of personal settings each coworker can define how many news are shown to him or her: few, if the intranet is called several times daily or many, e.g. the news of the past fourteen days if there is a need of information after a vacation.

A matter of particular importance was the integration of a central document administration as well as the structuring of the extensive stock of documents. Thereby the entire administration of the document data base takes place on the CONTENS surface within the browser: Thus editors can make new documents available very simply and administer existing templates structured without additional client installation. With the help of a search form as well as a category-supported search the coworkers have now the possibility of finding the necessary documents fast and precise. The advantages of this solution in relation to the past download are obvious: The search is carried out structured and can be refined e.g. with categories and keywords. That way the user is able to find the sought-after documents faster and simpler.

In order to make the use of the intranet as uncomplicated as possible for the coworkers, HAHN+KOLB decided for a single sign-on solution. After the first-time registration at Windows each coworker can now access the intranet without having to enter its entrance data again and again.

For the second project phase the extension of the intranet with further individual applications is planned. For example, a consolidated contact application will allow for the central access to all relevant contact details.
