All content such as articles, news, images, documents, pages, categories, editors, and group can be centrally searched in CONTENS. The search results appear in a well-arranged, assorted list. Via individual search agents you can also integrate external data pools such as product databases into the global search. With the global CONTENS search you can always maintain an overview even in very large databases.

In addition to optional CONTENS modules you also very easily integrate already existing applications in CONTENS. Even content of external databases is made administrable with CONTENS. Editors work on application data such as structured product information via the same user interface as for editorial articles. The administrative areas of modules can be controlled via the rights administration and the workflow system.

Efficiency is a top priority at CONTENS. A press release, for example, can be outputted in different places on the website. If you make changes in one place, all instances of the press information will be updated at the same time. The display may be customized to match the place of output: on the homepage only date and title, on an overview page title and an image and in the press area the entire press information.

Via the central CONTENS library you can integrate headlines, articles, news, and other content objects on one page by means of only a few clicks. Active locations even offer the possibility of presenting content on a page according to certain rules. Thus you can, for example, set up all news of the last 12 months or the ten latest press releases of the category “Product news” on one page by means of only one click. 

All content and pages in CONTENS can be addressed to customizable target groups. For example, you can provide registered users with additional information on the homepage or set up a separate extranet for your partners. Editors simply define which target groups may access what types of pages and content. That way CONTENS considerably minimizes time and effort for operating target group-specific websites.

To output content in different media, it is possible set up several channels in CONTENS. For example, for the website, for mobile devices, or for RSS feeds. With just one mouse click editors define what content shall be outputted in which channel. Even the size and appearance of a piece of content can differ for every channel. You thus no longer have to create content multiple times only because it is required for several target media.

The structure for registering content objects like headlines, news, or articles can now be individually composed and configured. For example, you can easily specify which elements of an object shall be required or optional, multilingual or even multifunctional. Since the forms for content registration are automatically generated, structural changes can also be implemented very fast and easily.

With CONTENS you can administer your various online projects in one central system. Websites, country versions, language versions, intranets, extranets, or microsites are easily and conveniently operatable. By means of the authorization system, you can precisely define who has access to what areas and who is allowed to edit what types of content. Time and effort for the administration of several websites are thus considerably reduced.

For optimal performance of your content CONTENS enables the publication of static, dynamic, and hybrid websites. It is automatically detected what content can be created statically and which ones dynamically. Static content is pre-produced and offers maximum performance with minimum hardware demands.  Personalized content and applications, on the other hand, are dynamically published by CONTENS.

The comprehensive programming interface (API) enables you to access central functions in CONTENS. These include creating, saving, updating, moving, deleting, generating, and publishing of content objects and pages. You can choose between hundreds of different methods to use the system functions. You can, for example, create external content as objects, integrate it on a page, and publish it all-automatically.
